Spring Roll Recipe

Spring rolls are a popular Chinese appetizer that are enjoyed all over the world. They are made with a thin, delicate wrapper and a flavorful filling of meat, seafood, or vegetables. These spring rolls are easy to make and can be customized to suit your taste preferences. Serve them as an appetizer or a snack, with your choice of dipping sauces or as part of a larger meal.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup finely chopped Napa cabbage
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped carrots
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package spring roll wrappers

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground pork, cabbage, green onions, carrots, soy sauce, ginger, garlic powder, white pepper, and salt until well combined.
  2. Lay out a spring roll wrapper on a clean surface. Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of the wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with a little water. Fold the corners of the wrapper up and over the filling, then roll the wrapper tightly to form a spring roll. Press the edges together to seal the spring roll.
  3. Heat a few inches of oil in a deep fryer or a heavy pot to 375°F (190°C). Carefully add the spring rolls to the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Remove the spring rolls from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain them on a paper towel.
  4. Serve the spring rolls hot, with your choice of dipping sauces or as part of a larger meal. They can also be frozen for later use. To freeze, place the cooked spring rolls in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Transfer the frozen spring rolls to a sealable bag and store in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Tips:

  • Feel free to experiment with different filling ingredients for your spring rolls. Some popular options include shrimp, chicken, beef, tofu, and vegetables such as mushrooms and bok choy.
  • You can also add spices and herbs to the filling to give it more flavor. Try using minced garlic, chili flakes, or cilantro.
  • To make baked spring rolls, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the spring rolls on a baking sheet and brush them with a little oil. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they are crispy and golden brown. You can also deep fry the spring rolls, or pan-fry them in a little oil over medium heat until they are crispy and golden brown.
