Shrimp Salad Recipe
Shrimp salad is a refreshing and flavorful dish that is perfect for a light lunch or a summertime picnic. It is made with cooked shrimp, crisp vegetables, and a tangy dressing, and can be served on its own or as a topping for a salad or sandwich. This recipe is for a classic shrimp salad, but you can easily adapt it to suit your taste preferences.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup diced celery
- 1 cup diced red bell pepper
- 1/2 cup diced red onion
- 1/2 cup diced dill pickles
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix together the cooked shrimp, celery, bell pepper, red onion, and dill pickles.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Pour the dressing over the shrimp mixture and stir until everything is well coated.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the shrimp salad for at least 1 hour, or until it is chilled and the flavors have melded together.
- Serve the shrimp salad on its own, or as a topping for a salad or sandwich. It can also be used as a filling for wraps or tacos. The shrimp salad will keep in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Tips:
- Feel free to experiment with different vegetables and flavorings for your shrimp salad. Some popular options include chopped hard-boiled eggs, chopped cooked bacon, diced avocado, diced mango, or chopped fresh herbs.
- You can also use different types of seafood for your salad, such as scallops, squid, or mussels. Just be sure to adjust the cooking time as needed.
- For a lighter version of this recipe, you can use Greek yogurt or sour cream instead of mayonnaise, or omit the mayonnaise entirely and use a vinaigrette dressing instead.
