Delicious Cherry Hand Pies

These cherry hand pies are the perfect sweet treat for any occasion. The flaky, buttery crust pairs perfectly with the sweet and tart filling, and the individual portion sizes make them easy to grab and go. Plus, they're easy to make and only require a few simple ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, cold and cubed
  • 2-3 tablespoons ice water
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon turbinado sugar (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the flour and butter until the mixture resembles coarse sand. Add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, and mix until the dough comes together in a ball.
  2. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  4. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick. Using a round cookie cutter or a glass, cut out circles of dough. Place about 1 tablespoon of cherry pie filling in the center of each circle.
  5. Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg and fold the dough over the filling, sealing the edges with a fork. Brush the tops of the hand pies with the egg wash and sprinkle with turbinado sugar, if using.
  6. Bake the hand pies for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Tips:

  • If you don't have cherry pie filling on hand, you can use any fruit filling you like. Try blueberry, raspberry, or apple.
  • For a shortcut, you can use store-bought pie dough instead of making your own.
  • These hand pies are best served warm, but they can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.

These cherry hand pies are a delicious and easy way to satisfy your sweet tooth. Give them a try and see for yourself how tasty they are!
